Medical Detoxification
Duration: 3–7 DaysMedical detox is the critical first step in addiction treatment. At AXS Rehab, our Placerville facility provides round-the-clock medical supervision to ensure you withdraw from substances safely and as comfortably as possible. Our physicians and nursing staff monitor vital signs continuously and use medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to reduce withdrawal symptoms and cravings.
Detox alone is not a cure for addiction, but it builds the physical foundation for the therapeutic work ahead. Once stabilized, your clinical team will recommend the appropriate next level of care.
- 24/7 medical staff and nursing supervision
- Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for withdrawal management
- Individualized detox protocols based on substance and history
- Smooth transition planning to residential or outpatient care
- Psychiatric evaluation and mental health screening

Step-Down Care Model
Our outpatient programs are designed to work as a progressive step-down from higher levels of care. Clients typically transition from residential treatment into PHP, then to IOP, and eventually to standard outpatient sessions. This gradual reduction in structure allows you to build independence while retaining clinical support.
- Seamless transitions between levels of care
- Clinical team coordinates every step-down
- Relapse prevention planning at each stage
Evidence-Based Modalities
All outpatient programs at AXS Rehab use the same proven therapeutic approaches as our residential program, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, and 12-Step facilitation.
- CBT and DBT skills training
- Individual counseling with licensed clinicians
- Peer group processing and support
Dual Diagnosis Treatment
Many individuals struggling with addiction also live with co-occurring mental health disorders. At AXS Rehab, we believe that treating only the addiction while ignoring underlying psychiatric conditions leads to incomplete recovery and higher relapse risk.
Our dual diagnosis program integrates addiction treatment with psychiatric care, addressing both conditions simultaneously. Licensed psychiatrists, therapists, and counselors collaborate on a unified treatment plan that targets the root causes of both substance use and mental health challenges.
- Comprehensive psychiatric evaluation at intake
- Integrated treatment plans addressing both conditions
- Medication management by board-certified psychiatrists
- Trauma-informed therapy (EMDR, CBT, DBT)
- Ongoing assessment and treatment plan adjustments
Co-Occurring Disorders We Treat
Depression
Major depressive disorder, persistent depressive disorder, and substance-induced depression.
Anxiety Disorders
Generalized anxiety, social anxiety, panic disorder, and substance-related anxiety.
PTSD
Post-traumatic stress disorder, complex trauma, and trauma-related substance use.
Bipolar Disorder
Bipolar I and II, cyclothymia, and mood-related substance use patterns.
Our Integrated Approach
Rather than treating addiction and mental health as separate issues, our clinical team uses an integrated model where therapy sessions, medication management, and group work all address both diagnoses concurrently. This results in stronger outcomes and a more sustainable recovery.
Unified Clinical Team
Psychiatrists, therapists, and addiction counselors share treatment plans and collaborate daily.
Evidence-Based Protocols
CBT, DBT, and trauma-focused therapies adapted for dual diagnosis populations.
Medication Management
Careful psychiatric medication oversight coordinated with addiction recovery goals.
Aftercare Coordination
Discharge planning includes ongoing psychiatric follow-up and community support connections.
